Dr. Ida Bergstrom is a seasoned Internal Medicine physician with over two decades of experience in adult primary care. She brings deep expertise in young adult health, women’s and men’s health, and the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide range of adult medical conditions.
Since beginning her clinical career in 2002, Dr. Bergstrom has been known for her collaborative, compassionate approach to care—treating every patient like family and ensuring they feel seen, heard, and empowered. Her philosophy centers on building strong doctor-patient relationships, with shared decision-making at the heart of every treatment plan.

Dr. Bergstrom’s early life was shaped by international experiences. Raised primarily in Washington, DC, she also spent much of her childhood abroad as the daughter of a U.S. Foreign Service officer. These formative years instilled in her a lifelong passion for travel, cultural understanding, and human connection—all of which she brings into her medical practice today.
She earned her undergraduate degree from Denison University in Ohio, followed by her medical degree (MD) from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine. She then completed her Internal Medicine residency at Georgetown University in 1999, where she remained to pursue a Primary Care Fellowship. During that time, she also earned an MBA—equipping her with a unique blend of clinical and leadership skills that informed her later work as both physician and practice owner.
From 2002 to 2025, Dr. Bergstrom led and eventually owned Farragut Medical and Travel Care, a practice known for its personalized, evidence-based approach and exceptional service. Her work there was grounded in staying current with the latest medical research and delivering care that reflects the needs and goals of each individual patient.
Today, Dr. Bergstrom continues to provide the same high-quality, personalized care she has always been known for—building lasting relationships and helping her patients thrive.
